Why opt for Live In Care?

Live-in care is a popular choice for individuals who need round-the-clock support and for good reason. Whether you or a loved one is making this decision, the thought of leaving a long-time home filled with memories can feel overwhelming.

With live-in care, there’s no need to move away from the comfort of your own home. Regardless of your personal needs—whether it’s assistance with washing and dressing, preparing your favorite meals, or accompanying you to social groups or hobbies—you’ll receive personalized support tailored to you. Live-in care allows you to maintain your independence, enjoy the familiarity of your home, stay connected with friends and family, and benefit from the companionship of a dedicated caregiver by your side.

Live in Care is one of the most popular choices for people who require support around the clock, and rightly so.  Whether it is you making the decision or your family member or friend, the decision to move from home to be cared for elsewhere is daunting.  Especially if you will be moving from your home that you have lived in for so many years and created so many memories.

Regardless of what your personal requirements are, whether it is someone helping you wash and dress,  cook your favourite meals, or even take you to your weekly social group or hobby, with live-in care, you will always have support for all your needs in the comfort of your own home.  You can continue to live independently, still enjoy your home, visit and be visited by the same friends and family, and best of all have a companion to support you all the way.

Live In Care Frequently Asked Questions

1Will my live in carer be trained to meet my specific needs by Acacia Homecare?

We take full responsibility for the ongoing supervision and management of your carer, ensuring they are supported and well-prepared to meet your needs. We also invest in their training and professional development to maintain the highest standards of care. Each carer is thoroughly vetted and we carefully match their skills and expertise to your specific requirements.

2How many breaks will my live in carer require?

There will be times when your carer will also need to take time off so they can spend their time with their own family and friends so we will also ensure that your care continues in that time.

When your live-in carer needs to take a break, we will introduce you to another fully trained carer who will arrive at your home for a thorough handover. Our priority is to ensure that the transition between carers is as seamless as possible, causing minimal to no disruption to you and your family.

At Acacia Homecare, we typically operate on a two-month handover cycle. This means you will have the same carer for two months before transitioning to another carer for the next two months, ensuring continuity and familiarity in your care.

The live in carer would require a 2 hour break every day and there are 3 alternative ways of achieving this:

  • The customer can be left alone and comfortable at home for 2 hours
  • Send an alternative carer to cover the 2 hour breaks at additional cost
  • Family/ friends to cover the 2 hour breaks everyday
3How will my shopping be managed with the live in carer?

Shopping can be managed in several ways to suit your needs:

  • The live-in carer can handle small daily shopping, while a family member takes care of the weekly shop.
  • Groceries can be ordered online and delivered directly to the home.
  • The live-in carer can oversee the weekly budget and manage the entire shopping (within reason).

This flexibility ensures your shopping needs are met in the most convenient way possible.

4What are other costs should I consider?

The total cost of live-in care consists of both direct and indirect costs.

  • Direct Costs: This is the weekly fee for the care services provided.
  • Indirect Costs: These relate to having your carer live in your home, which includes additional expenses for food and utilities.

As a live-in carer becomes part of your household, they will share meal times with you, use the bathroom, access the internet, and so forth, becoming a part of your weekly shopping and household budget.
