Rosemary’s Journey with Acacia Homecare – From Domiciliary to Live-In Care

One such individual is John B, who entrusted us with his care from 23rd May 2023 to 13th October 2024. John’s story is a testament to the importance of tailored care services and we are proud to have made a difference in his life.
Why John Chose Acacia Homecare
John, like many older individuals, found himself needing extra support due to health issues. His daughters, one living locally and the other farther away were balancing their work commitments which left little time to provide the daily care their father needed. John has a condition where his foot and ankle swell and therefore needs to wear a special boot which he cannot put on by himself, has chronic respiratory problems and faces the general challenges of aging. To ensure his well-being, John’s family turned to Acacia Homecare for support and we were honoured to step in.
Free Care Assessment: Building a Personalised Care Plan
At Acacia Homecare, we offer a free care assessment to ensure that each of our customers receives the exact care they need. This is done by one of our experienced customer care leads who visit the customer’s home to understand their unique situation and create a tailored care plan. In John’s case, it was Dee, our dedicated customer care lead, who carried out his assessment.
Dee visited John in his home and carefully assessed his care needs based on his health condition, personal preferences and the level of support his daughters were able to provide. After this in-depth consultation, Dee created a personalised care plan that included:
- Personal care: Assistance with grooming, hygiene and dressing.
- Daily check-ins: Regular visits to ensure John was doing well.
- Medication reminders: Helping him stay on track with his medication.
- Meal reminders: Encouraging him to eat regularly and maintaining his nutrition.
John received care three times a week and his daughter who lives locally would visit him on the other days to spend time with him. Together, we formed a support system that allowed John to remain in the comfort of his own home for as long as possible.
A Heartfelt Farewell
Due to changes in his daughter’s circumstances, John recently made the decision to move closer to his other daughter where he will be staying in a care home. While we are sad to see John leave, we are deeply touched by his kind words and gratitude. Before departing, he sent us a box of chocolates and a heartfelt note that read:
“To all the carers at Acacia, thank you for helping me in my home, for your care and assistance during the time I have been with Acacia Homecare.” – John B.
We are incredibly proud of the support we provided to John and his family and we wish him all the best in this next chapter of his life.
